Art Curriculum: Discovering Art through Calvert School:
Veritas Press
Our classical art program increases students' understanding and appreciation of the visual arts. It also enhances artistic abilities through the actual creation of art projects. Students study images of paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and photographs by artists ranging from young children to masters like Leonardo da Vinci. The program presents and illustrates the elements of art and principles of design, while teaching the terms and concepts which artists, art critics, and art historians use to understand and discuss works of art. Art Curriculum: Exploring the Art of the period in our Omnibus class Our logic and rhetoric stages use the exploration of great works of art and architecture of the period to develop our students further understanding of the classical pieces of literature they are studying. It is through this exploration that our students will understand the affect of the times on the authors works. Our studies not only include the religious aspects of the times but the political and the economic influences that might have shaped the authors views. God is evident in all things at all times even if we (as man) feel He is not present. Humanities Curriculum: Exploring the Art and Times of Italy John Bickley will be walking his class through early art and the history of the Italian area in preparation for the Upper Level trip to Italy in the summer. We offer this class as a way for our students to expand their knowledge of art but also to learn about the area that they may be traveling in the near future.
